ADVANTAGES IF APPROVED:
The driving surface is d rt but does not have drainage problems. The improvement will
eliminate the mud a d ru ting problems and will provide a paved surface for the heavy
commercial traffic sing the street.

Improve SYLWAN STREET from (vy Avsnue north to proposed cul-de-sac by grading,
paving �nd c nstructing curb and gutter. Also, condemning and taking additional right-
of-way for tur�j around purposes. Also condemning and taking slope easements.
EXI T( 1 NDITI N
This is � dirt treet with all utilities in place. There are two wood pole lights in place.
The we$t sida of the street is owned by the petitioner Electro-Plating Engineering. The
east sid� of t�e street is owned by the Port Authority and leased to Ideal Security
Hardwa e Co p. and it is undeveloped.
INITIAT�NG �.,TION
This project wras initiated by a petition signed by John Hofner of Electro-Plating
Engine�ring.
PROP ED �.MPROVEMENT
Constructing Foncrete curb and gutter, bituminous pavement from Ivy Avenue to the
proposed cul�de-sac. Total length of this project is approximately 150 feet. The
pavement will be have to'be considerably heavier to accommodate the large trucks
that will be using it.
ALTER�IATE,
Do nothing. This would allow the mud and erosion problems to continue, but would
not be a majdr problem. A street light system could be installed Tf�is would not
provide� any more light thart tfie exisiing wood pole lights artd would only increase the
total cost of tMe project.

Constrtuction o� this project could be schedulsd to start in the summer of 1991 and be
comple�ed in�thirty days.
