WHEREAS, the City of Sai�t Paul is committed to provide a safe and efficient transportation system, and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is required to rate and post the deficient bridges based on safe load carrying
capacity, and
WFlEREAS, 65 bridg�s are pver 50 years old, and
`JVHEREAS. many af#he C' s 300 bridges will need replacement or rehabilitation which includes: Shepard Road
over Ravine - $3,500a000; abasha St. over Mississippi River-$20,000,000; Westem Ave. - $1,500,000; Se(by
Br. -$3,0(1C,400; Arc�ade S . over BN RR -$2,000,000; Earl St. Br. over CNW and BN RR -$4,000,000;
Randalph over CNW RR •$1600,000; Wheelock Parkway over Soo RR - $600,000; Burr St. over CNW-
$4,000,000; Edgerton over CNW RR - $2,000,000; Maryland over BN RR - $600.000, and
WHEREAS, the City�annot by its own means afford the cost of these structures, and
WHEREAS, the "Fed�ral BrFdge Replacement and Rehabilitation Program" has been very effective in kaeping the
r�ation's bridges in a safe coindition, and
WNEREAS, fu�ciing for the replacement and rehabilitation for deficient bridges is financed by State Transportation
monies and Federal Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Bonds, now therefore be it
RESOLV�D,that the City of Saint Paul supports the continua�on of this very important program, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, tha�the Mayor is requested to send copies of this resolution to the Minnesota
Congressional Delegation and to the State Legislative Delegation of the City of Saint Paul
