WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul and Minnesota Safety Council have joined together to make the streets
safer for pedestrians, and;
WHEREAS, this campaign "On the Street, Stop for the ReeP' will strive to educate the public and increase
education, enforcement, and prosecution efforts regazding Pedestrian Safety Laws, and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Safety Council has agreed to contribuCe $ 23,420 to the City for the cost of
creation and dietribution of the following materials: educational fliers, cross walk stop signs, safety vests, and
promotional badges; press kits and execution af press conference; creation and installation of "On the Street,
Stop foz the FeeY' signs a� 50 intersections; creation of a benchmark and conclusive survey; overtime for
targeted Police enforcement; additional time needed by City Attorney's Office; creation and distribution of a
video as a Public Service Announcement, and a volunteer appreciation party, and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the C3ty Charter, does certify that there are available
for appropriation revenues in excess of those estimated in the 1948 Budget; and
WHEREAS, the MayQr recommends the following changes to the 1498 budget;
