8 WHEREAS, there has been an increasing number of weapons-related offenses across the nation;
9 and

11 WHEREAS, this tr,end towards increasing numbers of weapons crimes is now being seen throughout
12 Minnesota and in Saint Paul; and

14 WHEREAS, the i�creasi�g number of weapons-related offenses has a destabilizing effect on Saint
15 PauPs neighborhoo�ds, sclhools, and businesses; and
16
17 WHEREAS, the p�oliferation of weapons decreases the safety of public safety officers and the
18 people they protect;

20 NOW, THEREFORE, BIE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul supports legislation by the
21 State of Minnesota that �vould increase the penalties for all weapons-related offenses.
