90-2021 O R I r � ��� � 1 �� ` Council File # �p���l 1 \ V �--�' Green Sheet � 6115 RESOLUTION CITY OF SAINT PAUL, INNE OTA Presented By Referred To Committee: Date FUNDING FOR LEAD ABATEMENT WHEREAS, insufficient State funds were appropriated to implement MN 116.52 and 144.87 for lead abatem�ent, and; WHEREAS, local pXoperty tax �annot be relied on to shoulder the burden of lead abatement programs, a�d; WHEREAS, the pro�osed Rules for implementing MN�' 116.52 and 144.87 would require Saint Paul to spend i� excess of $400,000 per year in lead screening, education and abatement, and; WHEREAS, the State legislation provided only $40,000 annually to Saint Paul for lead abatement efforts; therefore, be it RESOLVED THAT, the City of Saint Paul supports a change in MN§ 116.52 and 144.87 and its interim rules to focus lead abatement efforts to the available level of State funding or to significantly increase State funding for this program.
