WHEREAS, the S 'nt Paul Fire Department Relief Association has notified the City Council
that its membership had pproved amendments to its By-Laws, Article 1, Sections 4(a) and (b) and
Article 9, Section 1, so to provide that member contributions to the fund and benefits to be
provided shall be based n the monthly salary of a first grade fire fighter on a current basis as that
amount is determined fr m time to time; and
WHEREAS, Minn sota Statutes, Section 69.773, Subdivision 6, provides that amendments to
its association's By-Laws hall not be effective until approved by the City of Saint Paul City Council;
NOW, THEREFO E, BE IT RESOLVED, that effective as of the date of adoption of this
resolution, the Council o the City of Saint Paul does hereby grant its approval to the amendments
to Article 1, Sections 4( and (b) and to Article 9, Secrion l, which amendments are as follows:
Article 1, Section (a) relative to member contribution should be amended so that it reads as
follows:
(a) An amaunt qual to Eight percent (8%) of the basic monthly pay of a first

Fire Relief Associ� ion pensions are based on the maximum pay of firefighter. Under
previous relief as cia ion by-laws, post-retirement adjustments ook place ance a year
on February 1 base on he maximum pay of a firefighter. If ther was a mid-year ad�ustment
in the firefighter sal ry that was not retro-active to January, he retirees had to
wait until the nex�t Feb uary to receive the ad�ustment.
