Background: Tle Housing and Information Office has een providing mortgage foreclosure counseling services for HUD for seven years. The grant is intended to cover expenses for these services. In rec nt years, the workload has been increasing due to more and more foreclosures. HIO has been able to handle the increased workload because an intern has been able to do some of it,but they also need to hue a contract person to do the work. The City contributes about $2,000 in in-kind contributions to the pro ram by supplementing actual staff costs. A grant will be submitted in August requesting a higher level of funding from HUD(approzimately$15, ). Major Issues: They need to hire the contract person to f lfil the obligations of the grant. Fiscal Impact: (Current Year an Following Year) Hopefully, the City will receive a larger UD grant to cover costs. Built into the HIO budgets for 1990 and 1991 are in-kind contributions, approximAtely $2,000, for staff costs associated with this program(and service).
