WHEREAS, the Jacob Schmidt Brewery in Saint Paul has recently closed, laying
off over 180 orkers; and
WHEREAS, the ity of Saint Paul, through the Job Creation and Training Section
of the Depart ent of Planning and Economic Development, has successfully
implemented s veral Dislocated Worker Projects; and
WHEREAS, the ob Creation and Training Section has recently secured resources
to provide co prehensive employment-related services for workers who lost
their jobs fr m the Jacob Schmidt Brewery; and
WHEREAS, the ayor, pursuant to section 1007.01 of the city charter, does
certify that here are available for appropriation revenues in excess of those
est�mated in he 1990 budget; and, therefore be it
RESOLVED, tha upon the recommendation of the Mayor, the Council of the City
of Saint Paul does hereby approve the City's participation in the Schmidt
Dislocated Wo ker Project; and be it
RESOLVED, tha the Mayor recommends the following changes to the 1990 budget:

Dislocation and W rker Adjustment Assistance Act resources to provide
comprehensive emp oyment-related services for dislocated workers from
the Jacob Schmidt Brewery. Signature to attached City Council Resolution
will authorize ac eptance of funds and operation of the program.
