RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council established an
advisory committee on Chicano/Latino Affairs in 1978, and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council renamed the committee in
1982 to the Saint Paul Hispanic Advisory Committee, and
WHEREAS, the charge to the advisory committee was to advise the
Mayor and City Council on issues ;and concerns of the Chicano/Latino
community, and .
WHEREAS, the advisory committee has not been active since early
1988 ,and all members' terms have expired, and
;�,WHEREAS, the Mayor has met with representatives of the Hispanic
community to determine how the city can best meet the needs of the
Hispanic community, `and
WHEREAS, the consensus of those individuals was that there are
more effective methods of raising and addressing issues of interest to
the Hispanic community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council abolishes the Saint
Paul Hispanic Advisory Committee, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul remains committed
to addressing the issues and needs raised by the Hispanic community.
