WHEREAS, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the State of
Minnesota have recentiy approved the first year of a three-year, $150,000 grant to the
City of Saint Paul for the purpose of supporting Saint Paul arts organizations, including
$50,000 for 1990; and
WHEREAS, the grant monies received will provide financial support in the form
of operating grants to Saint Paul area arts organizations; and
WHEREAS, the NEA/State grant requires that matching monies must be
identified from an existing program by June 21, 1990; and
WHEREAS, the Arts Development Loan Program was approved by the Housing
and Redevelopment Authority of the City of Saint Paul (HRA) to help support arts
organizations serving the Seventh Place Project Area; now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul directs
the $50,000 (1990 portion) NEA/State grant to the Housing and Redevelopment
Authority of the City of Saint Paul for its acceptance into the Arts Development Loan
Program.
