1 WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Winter Carnival celebration is a
2 great part o£ Saint Paul's winter season; and
3 WHEREAS, it is a tradition for the Mayor of Saint Paul to
4 host a reception and to invite Mayors £rom around the State of
5 Minnesota to come to Saint Paul and to attend the reception and
6 take part in Winter Carnival; and

WHEREAS, the reception is not intended to be funded by City
tax dollars, but rather paid for by funds raised from outside
sources speci£ically for this event;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City
Council officially accept £unds donated in an amount up to
$15,000.00 to be used in conjunction with this event. Funds
shall be deposited into Special Project Fund GL-O50-30113.

The annuat Winter Carnival Reception for Mayors from around the State of Minnesota is being held on Saturday,
February 7, 1998 trom 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of Ecolab. We have raised the necessary funds to pay for
the event and would like the City Councii to officially accept the funds in an amount of up to 515,000.
ADVANTAGESIFAPPqOVED:
We will be able to carry on the longstanding tradition of hosting a reception for Mayors from around the State of
Minnesota by accepting the funds that will pay the expenses.
DISADVANTAGES IF APPftOVED:
None.
DISADVANTAGES IF NOT APPqOVED:
We will not be able to pay the expenses of the event and will have to return the funds.
