10 WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council has passed a resolution declaring April 22, 1990 Earth
11 Day; and

13 WHEREAS, because of the high level of interest, and because of the large number of activities
14 planned by the many groups interested in Earth Day, Earth Day events are taking place over the
15 next week; and
16
17 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is a city concerned about environmental protection for those
18 people living and working in our community; and
19
20 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has an interest in improving the environmental awareness of
21 those people living and working in our community;
22
23 WHEREAS, Saint Paul recognizes its responsibility for taking an active role in the development of
24 improved environmental awaxeness, and understands that this responsibility requires that the City
2S lead by both legislation and example;

27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul declares the week
28 of April 20-27, 1990 as Earth Week; and

2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council recognizes and endorses the Earth Week
3 activities being held in the City of Saint Paul from April 20-27; and

5 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul declares Thursday, April 26,
6 1990 "Commuter Day 1990", and encourages a11 City employees and residents to use mass transit or
7 to car pool to work or that day and other days in the future.
