1 WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department has received a grant from the Minnesota Department
2 of Public Safety, in the amount of $280,000, for a Weed and Seed Program in the ECON Small Area
3 Plan neighborhood of the East Side of 5aint Paul for the period July 1,1997 through June 30,1999, and

5 WFIEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department prepared a council resolution in 1997 to accept this
6 grant, however the resolution only included the amount for the first year of the grant and not the full
7 two years, and
8
9 WHEREAS, the Department of Public Safety requests a designated authority for the execution of
10 agreements, and
11
12 RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accept this grant award in the amount of $280,000 for
13 the ECON Weed and Seed program and authorizes Chief William Finney, to enter into an agreement
14 with the Department of Public Safety .
