[�THEREAS , Saint Paul, as the capital of the State of P4innesota,
is an appropriate location for central state offices ; and
WHEREAS , state government expansion of offices beyond the
Capitol Area continues ; and
T�J�?EREAS , there is a benefit to state government if offices are
located near one another to facilitate communication and cooperation
between state departments ; and
Tr]HEREAS , close proximity of state offices to the services
provided in and near the central core such as transit , office
services , entertainment, and retail establishr.tents is a benefit
to the city' s economy as well as to state government operations ;
NO�J, THEREFORF., BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City
of Saint Paul indicates its strong supnort for the location of
any f�.rtar� state office expansion to be in the Capitol Area .
. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Courcil of the City of Saint
Paul requests that the City ad*;�i?�i�tration �aork with state officials
to foster the expansion of state offices �n the Capitol Area .
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint
Paul requests that the State of Minnesota forma"lly establish a
policy which� gives priority consideration to locating state offices
in the Capitol Area. and in the Capital City.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of St. Paul requests
that the City Administration now make specific proposals to State officials
for alternate relocation of transportation offices within the City of St.
Paul and take all necessary action to facilitate acceptance of a St. Paul
site for the transportation offices.
