Provide students enrolled in post-secondary educational institutions with an opportunity to participate firsthand in all aspects of City government. 2. Provide the City with the skills, enthusiasm, motivation, and creativity of the college population. 3. Provide students with the opportunity to earn money to continue their academic careers. 4. Attract into City government the young talent government requires. 5. Utilize Federal and State funds which provide up to 808 of the student-interns' salary. 6. Provide a central administrative office to screen in excess of 2,000 students each year from over 50 colleges. 7. Keep administrative costs to a minimum through the contractual arrangements with Ramsey County and the City of Minneapolis. 8. Display how local units of government can work together in providing services to the communities they serve. . - ��0 3� � � �,����` � � AGREEMENT THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this day of , 19 by and between the CITY OF SAINT PAUL, hereinafter referred to as the "City" , and RAMSEY COUNTY, by and through its Board of Commissioners, herinafter referred to as the "County", both acting pursuant to the provision of Minnesota Statutes, Section 471.59: WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, the objectives of the program are: 1. To provide the City and County with the skills, motivation, creativity, and enthusiasm of college students. 2. To provide the college student with a valuable work experience in local government and at the same time expose her/him to some of the realistic, pragmatic problems in City and County government. 3. To create a liaison between local government and the academic community, thereby enabling both to utilize more fully the resources of the other. NOW, THEREFORE, by mutual agreement of the parties hereto, the following agreement is entered into and ma�e effective as follows: 1. An Urban Corps Intern Work Program shall be carried on under the supervision of an Urban Corps Coordinator, whose duties shall be as follows: a. Introduce and describe the operational procedures of the Intern Program to the various City and County departments. b. To develop within the City and County departments meaningful internships. c. To be responsible for the training and orientation of the intern's direct supervisor. d. To recruit and place worthwhile interns from the various colleges under the Urban Corps. 2. The Urban Corps Coordinator shall work under the supervision of the Personnel Office of Saint Paul. 3. Office space for the Saint Paul-Ramsey County Coordinator will be provided by the City. � �o ��� - 4• The total administrative cost of the tasks and purposes set forth are _ estimated to be $107,005.00 (one hundred seven thousand five dollars) . Should the total cost to the City be less than that stated above, the City shall return to the County 5$ of the unspent sum at the expiration of the agreement. Should the total costs to the City be more than that stated above, the County shall pay the City 5� of the sum in excess of the total stated above. : 5. This Agreement shall terminate December 31, 1990. However, either party may terminate the Agreement prior to that time upon ninety days written notice. Should such right of termination be exercised, then only the pro-rata portion of such installment coming due herein shall be paid or shall the terminating party be liable for.
