As I understand it, this Resolution requests $ 6 million from the state. I am very concerned about this Resoltion and the impact it would have if it were to be passed at this time. As you knoct, our priorities at the 1990 Legislative Session all relate to inances and working to retaining our share of the scarce sta e dollars. A request for a direct allocation of $16 million wold compete with our highest priorities of Combined Sewer Sepa ation funds and protection of LGAs. This is not the year to at ract notice with such a request and it could jeopardize the important work now in progress. Because ofithis, I am respectfully suggesting that the City Council co sider laying over the Resolution regarding the funding of the Lib ary until some future time more appropriate to discussion ,of additional state funding.
