Whe�eas, The present Zoning Code permits multi-family dwelling
units ini the RM-1, RM-2 and RM-3 zoning districts, and rooming
houses a d boarding houses are also permitted subject to special
conditio� use permit; and
Whe�eas, There are some multi-family dwellings being developed
which p�tovide individual sleeping accommodations with shared
kitchen �facilities, and these appear to be different from the
• concept bf the traditional apartment units or rooming/boarding
houses; a�nd
Whe�feas, The Council would like to have a study made to
de�ermine� whether there is a need to amend the provisions of the
Zoning Colde to make adequate provision for such multi-family uses,
includingj a study to determine in what zoning districts they should
be restri;cted and whether special restrictions should be adopted
so as to protect adjacent properties; now therefore be it
Reso�lved, That the Council of the City of Saint Paul does
hereby request that the Planning Commission conduct a study, with
the assis�tance of the staff of the Planning Division, and advise
this Coun�Cil whether amendments to the City's Comprehensive Plan
and/or regulations are. necessary.
