2 WHEREAS, The $tate Department of Revenue has projected that there will be a revenue shortfall of
3 approximately$160 million that must be made up through cuts in State spending; and

5 WHEREAS, It ha$been suggested that a part of the State shortfall be made up by reducing the amount of Local
6 Government Aid flor cities; and
7
8 WHEREAS, The �ity of Saint Paul relies on the State Local government Aid allocation to pay for
9 essential City services provided to the citizens of Saint Paul and any reduction in the amount of Aid will
10 mean a cut in the level of services,
11
12 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of Saint Paul is opposed to reducing Local
13 Government Aid to cities in order to offset the projected State revenue shortfall; and
14
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Council authorize and direct City staff to work with the Saint Paul
16 Delegation to assure full funding for the Local Government Aid Program.
